Segmentation fault, is it my kernel? (2.6.12)

Old Topic but thanks for he info about .steam directory i was getting crazy with install not working under user but working under root.

Thank you! I was having this problem too and couldn't figure out how to fix it. By going into the ./root/.steam directory and deleting ClientRegistry.blob, it fixed the problem and allowed me to update without getting the segmentation fault.

Will trye that on my server. I havent been able to update it for two weeks now. Earlier i deleted the intire folder. Will trye now to only delete the blob file.
