Hello, I have been running my server ok for the past several months on Slackware 10.2. I have been running on Kernel 2.6.17.4 and have had a good 480 FPS. I recently noticed that I was only seeing one CPU under /proc/cpuinfo. I have a Amd X2 3800 CPU so I found this a little strange. I went into the kernel config and enabled Symmetric multi-processing support and then I was able to see both cores of the CPU under /proc/cpuinfo. When I went to start up my server it was REALLY slow loading. By the time it finished loading (about 5-8min) it was only running at 10fps. The only thing I changed in the kernel was that Symmetric multi-processing support. Anyone have any ideas?

Is there any way you can swap out the CPU with another one? I have seen this happen before, we just swap it out and things where ok. Could of been a bad CPU! =\

If you're only going to run 1 server, you're better off WITHOUT SMP.

maybe inside the kernel, SMP support isnt added.

As I said, if you're not going to be runnign like 3 or 4 servers SMP is qorthless, hence why if you have a P4 with HT, its recommended HT is disabled when running a server, it won't use both cores.
