RCON Access Problems....
#1
Hello,

I recently started up a server for Garry's Mod 9. I am running it on Ubuntu 10.6. It is behind a router, but the router is properly configured. Here is my problem:

Whenever I, or someone else tries to RCON into my server, I get an error saying that it could not connect to the remote server. The port it is attempting to use is open. This happens for both players on the network and players not on the network(internet). The RCON password is properly parsed and is located in the server.cfg. We have even attempted various commands such as:
rcon +ip IP HERE
rcon_address IP here
rcon_password PASSWORD HERE

If you have any suggestions, please post them here as soon as possible!
Any and all help is appreciated.

Thank you,
lol, Internet

Did you set a different port like 27016? If thats the case then you need to affix :27016 (or which ever port you used) for example, if your IP was 123.123.123.123 and you're using port 27016 then rcon_address would be 123.123.123.123:27016

You would use your private IP while others would use your public IP

The port is not different than the default one....

Here is what we have tried in console::

Code:
Connecting to 192.168.1.4:27015...
Connected to 192.168.1.4:27015

GMod 9.0.4
Map: gm_construct
Players:  1 / 16
Build 2873
Server Number 1
Your .dll [bin\client.dll] differs from the server's.
Begin loading faces (loads materials)
End loading faces (loads materials)
Initializing renderer...
Populating Spawn List..................... Done!

From my understanding, unbuntu does come with SELinux and IPTables by default, perhaps IPTables wasn't configured properly?

I know you said your router was configured properly, but for the sake of arguments, could you post a screenshot of the routers portforwarding interface? have you tried to DMZ?

(In case you don't know how, press the prnt scrn key next to F12 open paint and paste it there, save it as a gif or jpeg and attach it)

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, Cryotek.

I have the server DMZ'd. Still does nothing. I am going to look into configuring IPTables tonight. I know I have not even touched IPTables so that could be the problem.
