Have any of you use or provide some sort of gaming server control panel particularly for servers running source gaming servers. currently I have found these two.

phprcon - cheap and commonly used, but porbably the only option, may just need some tweaking. http://server.counter-strike.net/phprcon/

gamecp - Too expeniseve Toungue http://www.gamecp.com

Some company's code these things themselfs which I can do but dont have the time :p

if you think about it though, $3 per game, $20 setup fee each.
you start off with 5 games? ok, $15/mo not bad, however you'll need to cough up $100 for setup fees. gamecp is per machine

Since server traffic is completely UDP a rcon based control panel would be quite easy to design. The only difficulty actually falls with the server control, depending if you wish to give up the real estate on the game server to a web server installation.

We run all of our web services on an external machine and have them send commands to the game servers directly in a more resource efficient manner than web traffic and much more secure. This allows us the centralized login panel that is not machine dependant, which makes programming much easier when you're running a multitude of machines and multiple games and OS's in more than one location. You will find, however, that most experienced admins will never touch a panel and will update everything through their ftp access anyways. With a program like HLSW available, I see little use for any control panel besides a basic stop and start anyways. Think it over, sometimes less control is better.

P.S. Iguana Active has been purchased by ReconGamer and thus will likely see little released publicly in terms of updates for new games. Why would a GSP want to provide such a resource to competitors? I guess time will tell on that issue.

Good luck to you.

Start/Stop many different game types. Has a light, web based file manager, can install/update steam games from the web interface. Manage multiple servers running on different boxes. It's free, web based, and written in PHP and Perl. Enjoy!

I have tried all the 3 of the above

**gamecp= Decent but not an expense that is viable, 25 a month per box.

**game-panel= (sorry brad and r00t if you read this, i love you guys but ima be honest) For linux isn't mature enough yet. The installer is a confusing mess written in perl, it installs its own FTPd which then creates a virtual ftp for each account. Their web based control panel is done on their end, which ... i didnt like.
When actually installing a game you will have to tweak the game installer for each game you have on your server to actually work correctly. The installer does nothing more than a cp -a and usually never grabs everything from your skel directory for some odd reason..

**anyways its just my opinion. I would rather install myself as gamecp's arent mature enough to handle what is required at this time. Come guys how hard is it to "cp -R /gameinstalls/css /home/newclan/" then a "chown -R newclan:newclan /home/newclan/css" takes 3 minutes of reconfiguring .cfg files after that.

ohh my bad i was on a rant there.

Iguana actually isnt that bad, as stated it only runs on windows. Iguana is pretty stable and offers alot of options. It gets my vote for most stable gamecP, but im not very partial to windows for game servers. -=] The iguana guys are sorta tied in with ILAN whom only offer windows servers. So if you wanna give it a whirl call the ilan guys up and ask for a server, just say you want Iguana installed.

It would just be easier to buy GameCP license which is like $150 per master, and $100 per slave or something like that. GameCP is very good if you want to remotly control your dedicated servers. I for one, prefer not running services, such as mysql, and apache/php on the same box as my gameservers.

However, Cortex looks promising (Cortex is a panel coded by people at theplanet and only comes with i365 servers. you MIGHT be able to buy cortex if the price is right though perhaps.

Our setup fee is not for each box you setup. The setup fee is an account setup fee to setup your account. I wish more people would read the website before posting false information that could deter future customers away.

Hope that clears things up.
