are you running windows media player? or fpsboost? I hear zblock causes alot of lag as well.

If you mess with tcp network settings without really knowing what you are doing, then you can slow things up.

does the jump happen randomly? when someone connects?

no it's in random times of the game, in a match.

but i think i might have caused it by messign with the tcp receive windows. whats the defualt tcp window for windows xp?

except for windows 2000, defaulr RWIN is ~8KB

try these tweaks

remember when you edit your registry, you should always back up your registry first.

Well, do i really make this RWIN based on my line speed, i have a 100mbps link up and down, and i wont come close to that. i use maybe 4Mb/s up and down max.

and what will hapen if i set it to have a delay of 50ms? is that too small for high bandwidth? i want a mixure of good latency and a good amount of bandwith and i dont know what settings to use.
