not visible on steam/gametiger server lists
#1
Hi, I am running my server on a linux machine and everything seems to be working fine, except the server is not visible on the main server lists, so nobody joins. The computer is connected to a router that is connected to the internet. I have ports 27000-27015 and 27030-27039 forwarded to the computer running the server (I don't even know which ports are necessary). People on the internet can connect if they know the ip, but its not showing up on the public server list. Its set for public/lan play. Does anybody know why this could be?

double check how your ports are forwarded, and try setting sv_lan to 0
Steam ports
UDP 1200 (used for friends service)
UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive
TCP 27030 to 27039 inclusive
Computers running Dedicated Servers need these ports open
UDP: 27015 and 27020 (default HLDS, SRCDS and HLTV port)
TCP: 27015 (SRCDS Rcon port)

That did not seem to do the trick. All the ports seem to be forwarded. I am getting this message as the server starts:

Console initialized.
Network: IP 127.0.0.1, mode MP, dedicated Yes, ports 27015 SV / 27005 CL
Attempted to create unknown entity type event_queue_saveload_proxy!
Game .dll loaded for "Counter-Strike: Source"
maxplayers set to 16
Executing dedicated server config file
Adding master server 207.173.177.12:27011
Adding master server 207.173.177.11:27011

When I search for it via address on gametiger it comes up as a counter strike source game (which is right) and shows some bizarre port number.

131.247.237.194:44968

Whare could it be getting that number from?

In particular what does the Attempted to create unknown entity type event_queue_saveload_proxy. sv_lan is set to 0 as well. Is there something I am missing that needs to be set up? Thanks.

thats your problem, add +ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
replacing the xxx's with your internal IP

Ok, I tried it entering my local ip which is 192.168.2.102, and my wan ip is 131.247.237.194. I added the +ip 192.168.2.102. But I should be able to see it on game tiger right? Anyone else know what it may be? Is it working, but I just can't see it?? Really appreciate the help guys.

geee, for some reason its still not working, it just seems like it should be, but nobody on the outside internet can see the server in the list. People CAN connect if they know the ip, but its not in the list Sad Here is a screen shot of the ports I have forwarded.

Maybe there is something else I can give a whirl??
Thanks!

Well first off I want to tell you that I have been having the same problem for a few weeks now. I have put it up as a DMZ opened all the ports that hours of googling provided and still nothing. Unfortunately after hours of searching I think I may have found the answer to our problem...

It appears that it may in fact be the Belkin F5D5231-4 router (I don't know what model you have but my "Virtual Server" page for port forwarding looks identical to yours). This is the model I have and it looks like I may be shopping for a new router.

THANK YOU ecliptor! Thats my router all right. Looks like I'll have to wait a while until I can make a trip to see my folks and switch with my dad's linksys. Thank you for finding it, it was driving me nuts.
