Using Pot Odds Correctly in Poker
#1
In all poker books, they talk about pot odds and comparing them to the equity of a hand. But in real gameplay, the pot odds often aren't sufficient for a call. For example, I have a straight draw (17% chance of improvement), but opponents usually bet at least 33% of the pot, if not more. Following the logic of pot odds, it seems like you should almost always fold a straight draw. But that doesn't seem quite right to me))

So here's my question: how do you actually use pot odds correctly? And should you even bother with them at micro stakes?

I see it's been a while since you've posted, but I just ran into a similar problem and was wondering—did you ever figure out if the slow download was due to the FastDL setup or server config? Sometimes I forget to compress the files correctly or set the right MIME types. I’d love to compare setups if you’re still around.

I had the same issue and found that my firewall rules were blocking some of the ports needed for the server to show up on the list. Also, make sure Steam is running with proper permissions. Reminds me of when I was reading about utländska casinon dealing with similar connection hiccups due to geo-blocking—port access matters more than you'd think. Try toggling UPnP settings on your router too.
