providing everyone has a good ping; you might get away with it. I always downsize by 2 slots if im unsure on the connection speed. You will get to know how much it can handle after a week or 2 running

I have a dual Xeon 2.8ghz 2gb of ram. I have a DS3 to the internet coming in the next week or two. I am assuming a 30 player server will run ok on that. Any suggestion on any settings that might need to be tweaked?

Tenchi-san Wrote:yea my CS:S server runs 32players fine, im tlaking about the hl2 DM server is locked @ 16, and cmon, anyone whos played quake 3 DM knows a 16player DM isn't nearly as fun as 24-32 player DM, just imagine ... toilets flying everywhere... , also has anyone gotten the vehicles maps to have ... vehicles spawn on them ? i heard it only works on listen servers for some odd reason.

Someone posted a patch (I cant remember where Sad ) that supposedly fixes the vehicle issue. I haven't tested it though as none of my servers maps have vehicles. The patch is basically a few kb of information text files that point hl2mp to the relevent ai files in the hl2 folder.

I assume this is at some business? can't see anyone paying few thousand for 45mbps.

Anyway, thought i'd list a few server specs i own.
Texas lcoation:
Dual Xeon 3GHz EM64T
1GB of ram soon upgraded to 2 or 3 soon
100mbps dedicated connection, router limits each connection to 200kB/sec so there isn't a hogger.
Run's gentoo linux(not AMD64 Gentoo)

California:
P4 2.8GHz
512MB ram
100mbps burst
runs gentoo as well,

Ordering a few opterons and couple more em64t xeons soon ;>
