I'm getting hung at...

Downloading: c:\srcds\cstrike\models\props\de_tides\woodframe\misca.vvd
Compression Failure, WinSock Error 0 "No error"

Deleting .blob files hasn't worked either.

Nevermind, it finally started working with -retry added..

Mine continues to fail on various files. Currently it's rumble_rain.wav.

This seems like a silly method for distribution. Is there a way to redirect to a less busy server?

Ok. So looking at the syntax of hldsupdatetool -retry should help with the busy server. Says the following...

Automatically retry every 30 seconds if the Steam Network is busy..

Wonder how many times it try's before throwing the error?

Good lord what a pain in the but this is huh? I have downloaded this thing so many times and have yet to get it right. Either the srcds.exe is missing or it downloads the hl 1 files or I get multiple Winsock errors.

I am using hldsupdatetool -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir c:\srcds -username xxx -password xxx -remember_password -retry

I am now using the upgraded ver 9 update tool that comes with .bat files for each game type you still have to edit them though. My most current Winsock error was resolved by deleting the ClientRegistry.blob file. Although this doesn’t always work LOL.

Any idea why the server files don’t come on the 4 cd's that we got when we purchased HL2 I mean what was on those cd's anyway. Just the client I assume. Any way I wish you all good luck I still haven’t had it go right for me yet. Arrrrg. Ready to give up.
