You do portforwarding by going into your routers configuration page. It asks what IP and what ports need to be forwarded. Of course you will use the internal ip of the box that the server is run from. The ports that need to be forwarded can be found here.
http://forums.srcds.com/showthread.php?tid=1417 Any more questions dont hesitate to ask. Oh yeah portforwarding does this.....someone sends a request to join your server. Your router picks that up and sends the information/request to the specified IP. It forwards the information. Just like the name suggests. someone might be able to explain this better. But thats my explanation/understanding of it.

Yes just make sure that your computers firewall is alowing all ports for srcds.exe and it shuld work
Quote:Yes just make sure that your computers firewall is alowing all ports for srcds.exe and it shuld workActually no it wont work. you still have to forward the ports. You have to forward them in your modem. Its alot easier doing forwarding with a hardwired modem rather then a modem and router combo. But ya same thing applies for your modem. go into your modems configuration page, find the section dedicated to port forwarding and add the Internal IP of the box the server is running from and the corresponding ports. Any more Q's just ask .

yo open ports on your pc you go in to ither windows firewall or if u have like norton or mcafee u have to open them in there but to open them in your windows firewall go to start/control panel/windows firewall and then go to the exceptions tab at the top and then clik add port.. and u just but in the numbers how it says and the port numbers again are:
Steam Friends Service UDP 1200 1200 Steam Main UDP UDP 27000 27015 Steam Main TCP TCP 27020 27039 Steam CyberCafe TCP 27040 27041 Steam Dedicated Server HLDS, SRCDS UDP 27015 27015 Steam Dedicated Server HLTV UDP 27020 27020 Steam SRCDS Rcon TCP 27015 27015 so there but its really quite easy man hope i helped ttyl

Do you have a router and a modem? Or is it a modem hardwired straight into your pc. If you have a router and a modem go into your routers configuration page. There will be a section dedicated to port forwarding. Add the internal IP address of the box the server is running from and the corresponding ports. It's practically the same thing in your modem if you have a modem hardwired straight into your pc. If you have any more questions just ask.
