Ok so i have spent the whole day (sunday) putting together an old pc that i can use to host temporary css and teamspeak servers (for now) and i have come accross a little problem. I have a Belkin wireless router and i have opened the ports. I used the GUI version and got it all working fine.

Now here is the interesting part...

I wired up the server by a ethernet cable wheras before it was wireless and it does not want to work!!
Now i am really confused because i have opened the ports and it works on my wireless setup but when i try to use it on ethernet.. it does not work! also to make this all the more peculiar.. i disabled my wireless card on my personal machine and wired it up with an ethernet cable to find it still dont work..

on the server it comes up with a message saying "couldnt allocate dedicate server UDP port"

Any ideas??

When that error occurs, it usually means the port is already in use or you're using "+ip" (or "-ip") with an invalid IP address.

When you changed from wireless to wired, your LAN IP probably changed but you didn't update the startup command.

Or when he switched from wireless to hardwired he didnt change the IP in the forwarding page. I did the same exact thing when I got my first wireless router.
