Help w/ custom sounds please.

I didnt read your previous post but it sounds like u added the file to the quake folder on the machine u play from? Is that what you did?

Yeh thats what i did after the 1st time when it wasn't working, but i deleted it out of that folder now and changed back the d/ls text. Everything that you told me to do i did??? I'm at a loss it should not be this hard. If you could come to the server that would be great. Thank you.

It isn't hard, i figured this out on my own without asking anyone anything that has to do with mani. In order for the people that are on your server to hear the bangin.mp3 sound it has to be uploaded to your server. If you just place the bangin.mp3 on your computer then change the quakesoundlist.txt it will only play for as you are the only one with the sound. If the sound is playing for you then you have the quakesoundlist.txt file set up right. For other people to download and hear the song all you have to do is add bangin.mp3 file to the sound/quake folder ON THE SERVER BOX ONLY. Not on the pc you play from but the actual machine the server is ran from.

Okay as you see I am new to this and this will be the last ? I ask... and I apologize for being so ignorant when it comes to things of this nature. Okay there is the f.t.p., the website where files re-direct and then there is my computer. I have the bangin.mp3 on the f.t.p. in the sound/quake folder and I also have it at http://www.?????.com in sound/quake folder. Sorry for all the ?'s and once again I thank you for your help.

Your not being ignorant, I once was completely new to the subject also. If your putting all your sound files on an ftp server then you need to use sv_downloadurl and set that up. This i dont know anything about but i know you can look in the forums and find somethin on it. Sorry tho

I got it. Yeh I already had the sv_downloadurl set up for redirect. Thanx again. Now I know how to add sounds. WooHoo! Is there somewhere I can donate to this site for all the help?

Sorry i dont think you can donate to this site, but if u want to do ur part, read thru posts, mess with stuff to learn things, and help people out when theyre in need.
