Server.cfg

Ok I am somewhat of a newby. Not new to computers but pretty much to the whole srcds world. I will explain my full situation.

I am trying to set up a Half Life 2 Deathmatch Dedicated server

My hardware
256 Ram
30 GB hd
2.6 Ghz CPU
Generic Gforce GPU

Software
Windows XP pro (tweeked)

I have tried to install and run srcds on this new server and on my home computer just to see if there was something wrong with my it. But I am having problems both ways.

And here is where i get confused. In the tutorial it says to edit or creat the server.cfg file located in the Dir- C:\srcds\hl2mp\cfg\server config. Well i don't see anything else in that directory other than two files called skill.cfg and valve.rc both which windows does can not recognize and another file called settings which windows recognizes as a screen saver but for some reason gives me an error when i try to run it.

I know i probably need to make a Server.cfg file but i looked all over to find a tutorial on it and can not find a single thing, Please forgive me for my illiteracy in this subject but i would really apreciate any help with this.

yes you need to make a server.cfg file. its done in notepad. just save it as "server.cfg" with the quotes (or it may try to save it as server.cfg.txt) for stuff to put in your server.cfg.. i have a crappy lil online cfg creator, you can find that at http://cfgmaker.united-losers.com that file should be put in the \hl2mp\cfg\ folder.

Any idea when you might have that DoD:S config maker up and running?

Thanks a bunch for the other two...not too shabby in my opinion

lol, when I get time.. I have started on the dod:s one, but I have become quite busy. Especially since I started a full restoration project on my hearse. So currently I have no idea when it will get done, I don't want to say a date, just so I don't have to try and get it done by a certain day Wink
