[ubuntu: Debian] Anybody using it?
#1
I have just installed srcds on it and went well....only thing am having problem with it right now is that it gives an error something about can't bind upd sockets and am wondering whether anybody had similiar errors.......

http://www.ubuntu.com/

EDIT: Here's more information.........server runs fine as-is.......works great over Lan...but when I try to find it over net it don't show. I do use a firewall router but the port-forwarding is all set accordingly.......here's what I have in my server.sh
-----------
#!/bin/sh
echo "Starting hl2mp:Source Server"
sleep 1
./srcds_run -console -game hl2mp +map dm_lockdown +maxplayers 6 -autoupdate
------------

My IP Address is 67.187.213.46:27015

------------

P.S. What's the best DSL/Cable Router for Linux?

Are you behind a router? Try leaving out the +ip 67.187.213.46 -port 27015

Yes I am, but also found the problem......my router is no good...so I ordered a new router........also learned that I suppose to use my internal IP, not the external IP.....

so basiclly just typing in the terminal? ....all black screen....duuno if I would do that....

the gui in linux is not a resource hog as windows is....plus it don't crash. I like the way the files are structured....am liking it alot.....

I've taken all unused packages out leaving the box only reserved for hosting linux games.......which are free!.....

Also noticed its alot faster than my windows xp box.....

I am also using the newest version of ubuntu but it gets kind of slow. Do you have a good config settup on yours if so tell me what you did so I can make mine run faster.

Did you open the ports? Did you try using "Fire Starter" to open ports?

yurricane@ Basicly just remove all packages you don't need.....and be sure that there are no memory leaks or prgrams that cause a waste of memory........
