wELL I have fixed that problem now, I just linked gzip with uncompress and it worked fine.

now my new probelm is that it locks up when checking the bootstrapper Version.

when I do a

./steam -version
it says that the bootstrapper version is 0??

what the heck is a bootstrapper version anyways and or how do I install it!?!?!

if you're refering to the ncompress issue, either install ncompress, or run
Code:
ln -s /bin/gunzip /usr/bin/uncompress

As far as the other error, when i install a server (as in install the os on the system, i personally hand install Gentoo linux on my servers) i run this in the exact order
Code:
mkdir srcd_l && cd srcd_l
wget http://www.steampowered.com/download/hldsupdatetool.bin
chmod +x hldsupdatetool.bin && ./hldsupdatetool.bin
type in yes when prompted to
./steam -update
(steam updates boostrapper tool)
./steam -command update -game "Counter-strike source" -dir ./ -username mgservers -password ********************* -verify
how can anyone go wrong, i never had a problem o.o

I'm using core 3 and it's been a minor problem. but it's the fact I don't have everything I need installed. Ug.

Yea well. Core 2 (just upgraded) loaded right up. With this I was having issues I had never encourtered. It's not like you can asked the guy down the street or whatever. So unless somebody else has had the problem it blows serious butt...LoL. So I had my friend help me and it still wouldn't work. I was about to down grade when you posted and saved me 10 minutes.
