Help with srcds server. Friends connection failed after 4 retries
#1
Hello srcds forums, this is my first time on this forum and I have a very annoying issue when trying to host an srcds Garrys Mod server. I can join on my local ip but friends cannot join with my external ip. I have tried everything I can think of. I have port forwarded all the required GMOD ports and I have made sure that none duplicate. My setup is a WNR2000v3 Netgeargenie router connected to a 3801HGV 2wire AT&T gateway.I have no ports forwarded on the gateway but I do have my router in DMZ on the gateway. I believe it is something with my ports because on http://www.canyouseeme.org it says
Error: I could not see your service on 99.149.28.157 on port (27015)
Reason: Connection refused
The weirdest part about this is that I brought my PC to my grandmothers house when I visited her and the server worked just fine! But when I return to my home, my friends get an error saying "connection failed after 4 retries" I would appreciate help with this because I have spent 6+ hours on this damn thing. Thanks SmileToungue
P.S. I could be available for a TeamViewer session with Skype.

NETWORK AND BANDWIDTH INFO

Make sure you don't have a firewall blocking the ports, make sure you have a static IP routed to your computer and
last make sure the ports that have been opened in your router is open towards your local IP.

With that anyone should be able to connect.

I do not know your router so I can't be sure you've setup everything correctly.
Viewing your screenshots I can only think of Windows Firewall or your home not having a static IP?

Is it possible to forward ports on the gateway? from what it looks like (based on a quick Google search) it does have routing functionality. Try forwarding that and see what happens.

It is possible and I have tried port forwarding on my gateway and my router and neither work for hosting the server. I have firewall disabled too so I don't know what's going on.

Hi there, theanonymousleopluradon!

The problem you're messing around with can be solved in so many ways also because none of us know your kind of router. But I'll only recommend you to check, static IP, firewall, double check ports and IPv4s, check that srcds has permissions to bypass to the public network, check that anti-virus programs dosen't block your program to go on the internet and final check your administrative permissions on your computer or server, if the computer is specially setup or your know someone could have changed any settings on the computer or server that are running your server.
