I've got a LAN event on this weekend and we've run up some virtual servers for running all our dedicated game servers.
When I run the TF2 server it doesn't appear in the LAN tab of the server browser.
I have sv_lan set to 1, and I can join to it using the console.
Other servers such as DoD Source are appearing in the browser.
The Windows firewall is off.

There is a cvar in cs:go idk about tf2 but it is searching only for the ports below I guess.
"mm_server_search_lan_ports" = "27015,27016,27017,27018,27019,27020" archive - Ports to scan during LAN games discovery.

Are you suggesting my server isn't broadcasting on the default ports?

Finally found the solution on an obscure little page.
The server was also reporting "Unable to load Steam support library. This server will operate in LAN mode only."
It turns out if you have the Steam client installed on the same computer it messes with the server. Uninstalled the client and voila!
