srcds.exe Help

Hey guys im having a bit of trouble with the srcds.exe file i try to double click it but nothing happens, nothing appears when it should. But when i click start and click run and then input c:\srcds\srcds.exe -console -game cstrike +map de_dust -maxplayers 16 -autoupdate it works. So basically i cant seem to get srcds to run why is this ?

Well what your thinkin of is the GUI. To use the GUI you could run c:\srcds\srcds.exe -gui. Although using the console is better. Which is the command line you stated above. Also you dont need to have -autoupdate on there if you choose to use to console.

If I remember right the -gui cmd is only for hl servers, not hl2.

Although if you would want to run srcds in gui mode, you have to create a shortcut, and add to the target "-game cstrike" because atleast the game has to be specified in the cmd line. Basically the same as hexitnow said, just a different command

Just checked the command line and you can run Source Ded in gui with the command line c:\srcds\srcds.exe -gui. FYI

Just because it says in that file that it will work doesn't mean it will theres tons of dead commands in there, they just don't ever take them out, lol. But it may work, I haven't tested it. I know though that specifying the game works.
