SRCDS not starting...?

Hi there, I have previously been running an HLDS server but am new to Source and thought it would be fun to run a CS:S server. I followed the instructions linked on the first page of this site (downloaded / updated hldsupdatetool, then downloaded Source files) and after a long time of downloading, finally had everything I needed. I went to open SRCDS.exe in the GUI (I tried in console as well) and the darn file just won't run. You can double-click, hit enter, whatever, and the process won't run at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

you can't just run it by double clicking the icon, you have to create a shortcut to srcds.exe, and then right click it, and click properties, and add at the very end of the target "-game cstrike" and then you will be able to doube click the shortcut and run the server in gui mode.

to run in console you would have to add "-console -game cstrike +map de_dust -maxplayers 12"
