I can't seem to get my server to use an external IP. I know that using DSL can often be a problem when running any type of server.

I haven't forwarded any ports or do anything yet. Can someone just give me a list of things I need to do or if I have any hope at all, I'd appreciate it a lot.

Edit: Also, is there any way to run a game server on your domain hosted by a company?

You do need to foward ports to your server, also with your router set the server to a dedicated (static) ip.

what! i have dsl and can run any type of server i want.. i currently run an email server webserver, and 2 game servers, well 1 game server at a time. lol. you just have to forward the correct ports on the router and it will work. the only thing with a webserver is some isp's like to blok port 80, but then you just assign the webserver to use port 81, and with the domain forward it to the new port =)
