Server's lags/pings.

Question
Hi all! I have a problem/question: Me, my Bro & some of our friends wants to play on my Dedicated-Server, but I have a problem: when it's joining, all of them has a big lag & ping (excluding my Bro because it's playing LAN, but him also have a big ping sometimes). Im using this:

// PC sets:
>OS: Windows XP Service Pack 3
>RAM: 1GB (3800MB overclocked)
>20mb/s of Internet
>Set "Realtime" priority on srcds.exe

// RCON/Server commands
rate 30000
sv_minrate 30000 (I tried with "0" because it's "infinite" rate, but "30000" is working better).
sv_maxrate 38000 (I tried with "0" because it's "infinite" rate, but "38000" is working better).
sv_maxupdaterate 101
sv_minupdaterate 100

..any commands to change/use to fix the lag & ping problems?? Many thx Big Grin!!

sv_minrate 0 is not infinite..
means that the user can have "rate 1"
I sugest this:
sv_minrate 15000
sv_maxrate 0

sv_maxupdaterate 50
sv_minupdaterate 101

I think realtime is worse than high
How much upload band your conection have?
its nice to change the fps_max, what kind of server you have?

Why the "max[...]rate" It has less rate than "min[...]rate"?

My rates (always randomly):

>Download:
7856 kbps (almost 20mb/s)

>Upload:
670 kbps (almost 2mb/s)

Because sv_maxrate 0 is the "infinite", means theres no limitation on the rate value.

sv_minrate 15000 is a limitation, no less than this is allowed.

I dont undestand your connection type, 2mb/s (megabits/s) is 250kbs (kilobytes)
670kbps (kilobits) is ~80kb/s (kilobytes)

Do a speedtest.net and post you results..

what mod is? how much slots?

My new rates (updated today):

765 kbps

I have a dedicated server, 24 slots (as max.), no mods (but I have another server with 'Zombie:Reloaded' mod).

If you are talking about 765Kbps (kilobits) i dont think you can host a 24slot server.
765Kbps is 95KB/s less than a 1mbps (upload speed) .

Do a http://www.speedtest.net and test your conection, post the results.

My bro is now playing/talking on Skype, so my new rates is:

>Download:
5.24 Mbps

>Upload:
0.60 Mbps

With that, you can try to host an 10-14 slots server with updaterate 30 or less..
