If you are not going to host more than a couple of servers, just go with Windows Server 2008 R2. It does the job more than fine, and works pretty much 'out of the box' for hosting a srcds server.

However I recommend Linux Debian or Ubuntu Server, if you have the time to learn yourself how to use it. It takes almost no memory 300-/+ MB to run.

Listen , Linux is what most servers use because of its relaibility , security , stability and less resource usage. Go with windows if you want a simpler environment to work on. Go with Linux only if you are willing to contribute some days of yours in learning it (linux is not that hard as some people think it is). My advice is to go with Ubuntu Linux and do not go with ubuntu server because it has no gui and it will not be simple to run a server using a command line only.

Ubuntu server has no gui so it will scare the sh*t out of somebody if one is new to linux Toungue

Window Hosting is good if application in ASP.Net or .Net technology only and in cost more than Linux hosting otherwise
Select Linux Hosting account if you are using PHP, Ruby, Perl, Python, or CGI scripting and cheaper than window in cost.
