Windows Remote Desktop & SRCDS bug?
#1
Hello

I got a weird problems with srcds : I have a CSS setup on a dedicated box managed with the windows remotedesktop, but when i disconnect from the windows remote desktop it make the srcds CSS to freeze?(notsure since it doesn't crash) and players got disconnected.

It's pretty strange since the other game server on that machine aren't influenced at all by my remotedesktop ending session, like swat4 or Operation Flashpoint, who both running like a charm what ever i'm doing with the remote desktop.

It is just the CSS srcds who is freezing when i exiting my remote desktop session, it doesn't make the server crash, people just freeze with "connection lost" and can rejoin by a retry after 5 sec.

It's pretty bad to manage a server if when you do it, it kick people from a games :/

Anyone encountered this issues?

hmm.. i would have to say i have never experienced this. i run right now 2 servers both of them through remote desktop, one on windows xp, and another on 2k3.

But it just freezes for like 20 seconds? are you sure its not crashing? what operating system does the system have, and what do you have starting the server, and how exactly do you exit remote desktop.. are you logging off, or just clicking the x at the top of the screen?

The Os is Windows XP Pro sp2

Well it does not crash since when i m relogging the server is still running, so i guess it's only a freeze for srcds.

I changed my windows remote desktop port on, the server, and it seem to work fine now. Weird :/

sometimes thats not possible.. i run one computer thats at a remote location, and 2 computers here at my house (that act as servers) don't even have monitors mouses or keyboards attached to them, and im too lazy to dig all that crap out to plug it in. and also like when i ran a server in a datacenter in dallas, kinda hard to drive 2 days just to get to a computer Wink
