l4d2 dedi server password question

hi i have setup my L4D2 dedi server and everything seem to work but when i set a password to make it private it ask me the password when i start the game but once it's entered nothing happen
if i use no password everything goes well

Did you set the password in your server.cfg and restart/start the server?

The command is sv_password "type your password"

Type "open <ip> password" in console while in game to connect to server.

yes and when i enter the game it ask me for the pass amd then nothing

if i remove the password from server.cfg i can get in no problem

Connect to the server by typing " connect <ip address> <password> " in console to join the server. Do not connect to the server by joining without inputting the password first because it will ask for password while attempting to join the server and may stall getting into the server.

when i try with local ip or public ip i get this in console:

Bad server address private(5)
