I am trying to get a GoldenEye Source server up and running, however I am having problem after problem trying to get this live.

Here's some potentially relevant server info:

Code:

This is a fresh VPS with a fresh install of Steam, orangebox, and GoldenEye Source. I have not installed any mods, everything is vanilla. The server is running CentOS 5, with WHM and cPanel installed as well for the web server side of things.

I have heard that it may be related to glibstdc++, which I have installed all the recommendations. I have been trying to Google around for this issue for a few days now, I just can't find a solution that works.

Here's what happens when I try to run the server:

Code:
******@vps [~/srcds/orangebox]# ./srcds_run -game gesource
Auto detecting CPU
Using SSE2 Optimised binary.
Server will auto-restart if there is a crash.

Console initialized.
./srcds_run: line 352: 28383 Segmentation fault      $HL_CMD
Add "-debug" to the ./srcds_run command line to generate a debug.log to help with solving this problem
Sat Jul 14 16:03:24 CDT 2012: Server restart in 10 seconds
Sat Jul 14 16:03:26 CDT 2012: Server Quit

No matter how I try and execute it, even with the prefix linux32, same error. The error log gets created, but nothing useful (or anything at all) is recorded.

I have re-installed 3 times now, each with a new user. I've -verify_all'd the heck out of everything.

Any help is appreciated. If compensation is your motivation, perhaps we can work something out. Want to get this up and running!

Try strace -f -s 99 -o whatever.log ./srcds_run -game gesource

then paste the last few lines of the log file, might wanna debug it, ie: ./srcds_run -game gesource -debug

I did an strace, and also analyzed the core dumps that this error was producing.

There were a lot of file not found errors, and overall it was just not playing nice.

I just reformatted and installed Ubuntu, and the server installed and started up like a dream.

However, I can't connect to it! I can verify the correct port is open (moot point anyways, this is a dedi server directly connected to WAN, no NAT, and no firewall) but when I enter the IP:port into the server browser, no luck. Console connect command doesn't work either, just says "Server not responding"

Problem after problem Sad Any insight? Thanks a TON for the reply, in any case.

EDIT: I should also mention I tried booting up an hl2mp server as well. Worked fine, but still couldn't connect. Port verified open (27015)

It's working!

Finally!

I wasn't setting a +map ###### flag in the command line, woops! Anyways, off to go and figure out admin addons and such. Thanks Smile
