NEW ORANGEBOX SRCDS LAG [RESOLVED]
#1
Ok it's the first time playing since 2009 cs source and I tried this new orange box edition. So far it's very neat and a good addition but the issue comes to the dedicated server. It is up to date v72 but now my 40 player server lags badly. I just play with bots and 2 friends that live in my neighborhood(they have good internet/wired). I see a new thing added to net_graph 3 which is lerp and it keeps being highlighted yellow until players start dieng. Why is this happening ?? I tried using these rates and it has helped a bit with 32 players but not 40 players. My computer is new with i7 and 8gb ram. Internet connection upload speed is 2.31 mbps. Some custom maps are bad also!

How can I get a lag free dedicated server because this is ridiculous!
I will appreciate any kind of help. I don't play public. I only play with my 2 friends and the rest are bots!

sv_minrate 100000
sv_client_cmdrate_difference 10
sv_client_max_interp_ratio 1
sv_client_min_interp_ratio 0

Edit and try the attached server.cfg. It may help. And for the record, running so many bots, even on an I7 machine is gonna push the machine very hard. Many game server companies limit bot usage of their clients because they consume so much CPU power. You may try cutting the bot count way back and if it the performance improves, add some back until it's too much.

Good luck and keep us posted.

thanks for the reply. The server.cfg did help a bit I was able to increase bout count to 34 with minimal to no problems. Before cs source got affiliated with orangebox engine it handled 40 bot server pretty nice with no problems but now its difficult. Why is that?? Anyways i hope they can fix this crap in a new update or the next CS.

What happens when I increase the max rate and the minimum rate of the server?

Unfortunately, I'm not an expert on server rates, though many people here are. Basically though, the rates determine how fast data is sent between the clients and the server. Increasing the minimums force clients to send and receive their data to/from the server at higher intervals. This is suppose to smooth out game play for everyone on the server. But you have to be careful because forcing clients to use rates that are too high will cause trouble for players if their internet connections aren't able to handled the increased traffic. Now-a-days, with servers pretty much locked at 66-tick and most people having high-speed Internet at their homes, rates don't have the huge impact they used to so you're pretty safe.

I'm glad to hear you got the help you needed. Would you be so kind as to edit your original post's title and add [RESOLVED] to it so people know you're taken care of?

Thanks

2 mbps upload isn't enough for the player counts you are wanting
