#1
Hello everybody, i just got a vps server from nfo and got a:

model name : Intel® Core™ i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz

From them.
I am only using it for my ze server.
50/50...
Now i was wondering if you guys think i can handle it at a steady fps.
Here are the full specs:
processor: Intel® Core™ i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
ram: 2 gb
connection: i think 1 gbit not sure.

Please tell me if i can handle it!
Thanks,

I am only worried about the small amount of ram, and the i7-920 could easily do it if turbe mode is enabled, if not i cant promise you it is lag free. What tickrate? 33 or 66?

66 tick. And on the other machine at 50/50 there was 1500 mb available still with 2 gb of ram, so i don't think ram is a issue. More of the processor.

Yea.... 1500 MB ram just when you start it Wink, if you plan daily/10 hour restarts its fine, but if your planning on letting it run it could be a problem, also who host servers with i7 and 2gb ram nowadays?

Anyways, i had the i7-920 for CSS server with WCS mod once and i used 100% of it (1 core ofc as i cant use more) at 28 slots, so i wonder if ZE should run smoothly at 50 slots, however i have no idea if its a lighter addon or not.

no 1500 mb of ram free at 50/50 on the old machine. New machine from NFO is 357/2005 mb used.
Ram won't be a issue. It's the processor that could be a issue to be honest.

Do you actually read? VPS, it's virtual, it's shared with other customers, I doub't you can run a 50 slot server on it.

ohh didnt notice it was a vps at all, with a VPS i wouldnt even run a gameserver to be honest, and maximum a ~10-20 slot, its all about how oversold it is.

On the other hand it seems to be a gaming company, i have no clue, with VPS you just need to test as you are never sure how much power you got, also at peak times for the other users it might be laggy as another hell.

In my opinion dedicated is the only way to go.

I pm'ed them and they said we get our own cores(NOT SHARED). So yeah i do actually read. The connection is shared(1 gbit), but the cores for us aren't.

i dont belive this, meaning on 1 cpu they only run 4 clients each paying 30$?, nope, keep dreaming, sorry to say but this is to good to be true. However go and try, maybe your lucky and actually got a full core.

wtf guys, you kidding me? 2.6ghz for 50 slot server and u're tallking about ram?
1. SRCDS takes maximum 200 ram
2. 2.6 ghz will die hard giving out ~10 fps on 50 ppl fights

Okay guys.
Well you can close this thread now.
I asked nfo if i could have a better machine and they said yes.
I moved from that intel i7 to intel xeon e3-1270 @ 3.4 ghz. Im sure that can handle it, and they said it's 2 unshared cores we have for that single 50 slot server.
Im sure it can handle it.
same ip, same everything, just an hour downtime, same price and all of that.
Nfo is really good.

If you get a dedicated E3-1270 CPU without a layer between the server and the hw, then go for it. But whenever you virtualize, you're always in for shit-performance.

Yeah i got rid of it, at 28/50 ingame, we had 10 fps at holding spots(alot of holding spots ingame) and 10 fps at spawn... SO not too good and it's only 28 players.

Currently using my old host now!
