(TF2) How do you have a fast DL?

So im new to settung up a server and relized the maps have been downloading real slow for others and you need a fast dl but i havent been able to find a good tutorial. So does anyone have a link to a good tutorial or something? and im kinda desprete to for maps to download fast too since hardly anyone joins because of it..

You need a webspace first. A free host or something like that will do. Then you have to mirror the folders you have in your tf2 server install, so if your local install is like this:

- /orangebox/tf
- /orangebox/tf/maps

Then you need to create on your webspace:

- /tf/
- /tf/maps

After that, you need to set a few convars;

- sv_downloadurl "http://yourhost.yourhost.com/tf/"
- sv_allowdownload 1
- sv_allowupload 1

That should be it.

I've got experience with x10hosting, but I don't know if they allow .bz2 files.

There another problem..
I tried to make a account there and all it comes up with is

"Due to increased demand for our services we have had to queue hosting registrations.

Your registration is currently in queue waiting for processing.

This page will automatically update and you will also receive a welcome email once your registration has processed."

and it keeps refreshing the page by its self but its not doing anything.. And its been like this for about 15 god damn minutes now.. did it do this for you?

x10hosting does not allow it. they will disable ur account. try 000hosting thier really good u can hold sourcebans and fastdl and still be fast

If you want a truly fast download I highly recommend using dropbox. They allow you to remotely host any file through their network sort of like a free 2 gig flash drive. You can setup all your maps, sound, and model files through them and use the link as a FastDL. I use it for all of my servers and the download is super fast.

Wait what? How did you manage to set up sourcebans on it? They don't allow RemoteSQL for free users and sourcebans needs to populate the database on the webhost from the gameserver...

Actually even then, sourcebans needs the same portnumber opened as your gameserver, on your webserver. And 000 only has 80 and 430 or idk, what the standard web ports are.
