Remote Management
#1
Hello,
I was just curious if there was a way to possibly install and then manage a srcds server remotely? Meaning I have a home dedicated box with LAMP running and don't want to have to ssh in every time, but would rather have the ability to connect through local intranet into some sort of control panel and make changes as needed like start/stop, etc?

Sounds like a lot, and I'm not even sure if this is possible. I've looked at like GameCP and others, but... a little lacking in what I'm looking for.

Thanks

isn't SSH remote enough? and why 'ssh in every time'.
I am confused in what exactly you want, if available control panels don't satisfy you, nor the SSH.

I think you are thinking of a virtualization control panel like Virtuozzo or Parallels. Unfortunately this isn't possible on a physical server.

However, if you are a putty user you can simply create a shortcut that can "SSH in" for you.
Syntax is as follows: "putty.exe -ssh root@123.123.123.123:22 -pw [password]"
Of course you need to replace the IP 123.123.123.123 with your actual ip, and [password] with the password for the user root.
Put that in an ordinary shortcut and you're ready to go.
If you're a Mac user I cannot help you.
On linux it's just ./putty instead of putty.exe Smile

Uh, what about webmin? It's good stuff, I suggest you drop anything not coming from your IP to it tho, may be insecure.
