I put it in general because i don't know if this effects win32 srcds, I was testing out my new public server out and when i ran status in the server console (not in game console) it said a users ping was 121, but he said he was only hitting 60ms even 40ms, anyone know whats up with that?

Im not sure on how the pinging works in srcds but typically the pings analyzed by the client (the player) can differ from that which the server sees since there is not a 100% accurate timeing between the 2 although a leap of 40-60ms is quite high for such a theoretical difference.

Another possible and the most likely cause is, when you run the status command the exact second it pinged the player he had a lag spike

third possibility is, he lies Wink

I have no idea then, i would like to say its a bug since ive never seen this problem before i cant say :-/

I have noticed this. It does it on my Linux server, too. I think its just a bug really.
