"Missing map maps/mapname.bsp, disconnecting" HELP
#1
So I have set up 1 surf map at my server, surf_swej. I start my server. Then I go to my another computer to go play at my server. Then when downloading that map, first it very quickly downloads those files, because I'm using sv_downloadurl at my server, then it says "Missing map maps/surf_swej.bsp, disconnecting." and I get disconnected. I have sv_allowdownload 1, and I have .res file for that map, it's name is surf_swej.res so how to fix this missing map thing?

and you have the map on the webserver right? thats the first thing.

and i have heard that if you use some ftp clients to upload files to the webserver, it will change the timestamp on the file, thus the server thinks the file is differen't, and it won't allow it to download. so check and see if the timestamps are he same as well.

Nonsens, Skelator.

Note: a SRCDS map never ends at: ".res". A srcds map ends at: ".bsp" (or .bz2 if you zip it).

Yea, I use ftp clinet, smartFTP, but where to see this "timestamp" thing? And if I'm not allowed to use FTP client, how other way I can upload files to my webserver (=website?)?

<edit> Btw it's css server
<edit2> OMG! This maybe the whole problem! Ok, first I tried to put the map to my webserver as .bz2 compressed, didn't work, then I thought "Why not to test it without the .bz2?" So then I tried it without .bz2, didn't work. So now I went to the webserver, and all I could see was some sort of coding at where the map should be. Here's the adress: <removed relating to below post. And what do u mean by stealing my bandwith? How do they do that?>

So shouldn't there come the warning "Do you want to download this file? Yes/No" when u go to that files adress? Now there's only those codes, and I remember that the same thing happened when that map was .bz2 compressed. Just said this because I thought it might help.

hmmm. it seems like that for some reason whatever is runnin that webserver is opening the bsp file the same as a txt file. and that would be your problem.. so you will probly have to contact the webhosting company or whereever you get the server through to fix this.

btw, smartftp should work fine. i use it all the time Big Grin

edit- i also recommend you remove that link, so people don't try and steal your bandwidth..

Hollanda, I don't know if I can give you the link, because in Skeletors post he said to me to remove the link because people could steal my bandwith. And I don't know how they could steal my bandwith, because I don't know very much about website things. So I don't take that risk if Skeletor is right.

But now I got this solved!

Skeletor was right about that my website provider changed that .bsp file into .txt file, and that was the reason why it didn't work.

Here's what I changed:

I went to that file into my webserver. http://www.mywebserver.com/cstrike/maps/surf_Swej.bsp.bz2

And I saw that .bsp file was txt file! And that was free website from my internet host, so it wasn't good enough to keep .bsp files. So then I put all those files to better website, which I had to pay, but I had it already for one another meaning. Then I went to that website http://www.betterdomain.com/cstrike/maps/surf_Swej.bsp.bz2 And there it was as .bsp.bz2 file and it asked me to download it or not.

And now it works! Big Grin

OK nice man! And he is right that people can steal your bandwith (as a good server admin you can check this in your log files, also the server that is stealing from your bandwith), but you can also PM me Wink Nice that it's working now.

yes, what i meant by people stealing bandwidth, is other admins like to be pricks, set there server to download from your webserver, and that could generate a lot of traffic, which would be stealing your bandwidth.. not too big a deal, just something thats better to avoid, and theres no logical reason that anyone here would need a link to the webspace..

glad it works now though, and that is a drawback of a lot of free webspace, they usually don't support all the different file types, i mean they are free. lol.
