Play while hosting

Yes, i know its stupid. But how do i do? When im hosting the server, everyone else can see it. Works perfectly. Except one thing. I can not join any server at all. It stops at connecting to server. I saw another thread about it, and he said he removed the -ip thing, but then my server doesn't work at all! What do i do?

Are you using the console to initiate the connection to the server?

connect 192.168.1.70:27015

I do this constantly with games such as Garry's mod and TF2. It should work if you connect directly to the IP you bind the server to.

I don't know why you would think it's stupid, nor anyone else for the matter. It works well for temporary servers used to just play with friends. You only run into problems if you don't have the CPU nor memory resources to run both the server and game. It is a heck of a lot better than a listen server, especially if you have bots.

That aint working either. It still says connecting to server, and then stops. After about 30 seconds, it says it has failed after 4 retries or something

Try excluding the +IP parameter and connecting using the local loop-back address (127.0.0.1:27015).

Im not really good at this. Should i remove my internal ip in my commandline? And then connect with 127.0.0.1:27015 in the console in-game?

Okay, I am able to join if i remove the -ip parameter. But then everyone else who joins, will lose connection after 30 seconds. No steam logon it says, and it gives me error code 6 in the console.

That's the Steam-backend issue. Nothing you can do with it.

When will it be fixed? Will it be fixed?

No idea.

I will ask the Steam Support then..

The only answer you'll get from them is that there's nothing wrong with the backend. I just know it.
