one Installation - many Server?
#1
Question
Hey guys,
is it possible just installing TF2 once and host up to 10 different Servers ?
with different game mods and plugins etc.

So installing TF2 only once on a dedicated server and run multiple versions/server with different plugins?

if yes:
are there any pros and cons with this methode ?

thanks!

Well, you can using symlinks and different server cfgs i guess. The pros are that you can use a lot less disk-space with the method.

you can symlinks the important files and not the addons and cfg or editable settings.

you can also add +servercfgfile server3.cfg or something in the startup line. I don't know if that was the right cmd.

Eh, it's possible. I used to do it with sourcemod and CS:S with 3 different game servers. One problem which was kinda cool was that the ranks would be the same on all the servers as they all loaded and wrote to the same database files. Your configs and startup lines will look messy though.
Looking for a game server? Visit fullfrag.com and pick one up as low as $2.50 / mo!

specify +exec autoexec##.cfg, then the first server will execute autoexec01.cfg, the second autoexec02.cfg, and so on

With sourcemod (and databases) you should copy the server files for each instance, like Loopyman mentioned.

You can symlink the base files, so those folders you will change invidually for each server, such as "cfg" and "addons" should not be symlinked.
