SRCDS Localhost ping problem
#1
Hello.

I'm having quite a severe issue with SRCDS - running it on my local machine gives me upto 1900 - 2000 ping. When I can connect (with pings of 1000+) there are constant WARNING: Disconnections, etc.

Does anybody know what I can do to fix this as this is a serious issue.

I have already done a virus scan and my system is clear, I'm not having with an issue with CPU usage (I don't think) and the network is unrelated as it is localhost.

Basic Info:

OS: Windows 7 Home 64-Bit SP1
Processor: Intel® Celeron® CPU 925 @ 2.30GHz, ~ 2,3GHz
RAM: 3GB (3072MB) DDR3 RAM
Game: Garry's Mod
Start-Up Command: C:\srcds\orangebox\srcds.exe -console -game garrysmod +map rp_c18_v1 +maxplayers 16 -autoupdate
Admin Mods: Don't have any, using HL2RP (comes built-in)

I am running it on a laptop, and I'm using mysql with XAMPP (Apache + MySQL.

Hosting on the same computer as you're playing on? If so, it's common.

Is it a wired laptop? What is the amound of trafic with Apache + MySQL? What kind of connection do you have? What OS are we talking about?

I wasn't having this problem on my other laptop, which was almost the same.

It isn't wired but as I said in the OP it's not really related to the network - how do I find the Apache + MySQL traffic - and I mentioned in the OP that my OS was windows 7.

You did not answer my question, are you hosting on the same computer that you're playing on.

It was to my understanding that "I wasn't having this problem on my other laptop, which was almost the same." answered your question.

Also, you actually answered your own question.
"Hosting on the same computer as you're playing on? If so, it's common."

And yes, just incase it isn't clear - yes I am.

As Adam in mythbusters use to say: "Well there's your problem."

Hey buddy - turns out I've fixed it.

I was racking my brain trying to figure out what it was and I set CPU priority for Steam.exe to "LOW". This seems to have fixed my problem although it could have solved itself... not entirely sure.

For anyone who *might* be struggling with similar issues, try turning down the CPU priority for Steam.exe.
