Ok i am trying to run 2 servers, i originally had 1 server on an old box so i moved to another the old box works but this one doesnt i cant access the server and game-monitor doesnt show them with the ip. and i know that i have it set for online instead of Lan i have checked many times and made new cfg files just in case. the IPs are 24.237.249.52:27015 and 24.237.249.52:27016
if anyone could tell me why there not working i would really appreciate it and by the way i am using windows in case that matters.

thanks in advance

niether of the servers work? be sure you have opened and forwarded ports 27015 and 27016 to the computers internal ip address (if behind a router) and be sure that any kind of firewall isn't blocking them ports either.

The easiest way to run 2 servers is to have 2 seperate directorys.

you can however start one server with "-servercfgfile server1.cfg" in the start line, and start another server with "-servercfgfile server2.cfg" in the start line. be sure that a server.cfg isn't there at all, or i have heard it screws something up.. or something.

but it shouldn't be because they have the same name.. are you sure your assigning the ports on the server right? using the -port command? other then that, if both the servers are set up the same, just different ports, and the ports are both open in the router, then if one works. the other one should as well.

say you have a folder call srcds with all the server files in it.. make a folder named srcds2, and either re-run the update tool to download everything there(long way) or just open srcds (the folder), push ctrl+a (to select everything) and push ctrl+c (to copy everything) and then go to srcds2 and push ctrl+v (to paste everything).

ok seems simple enough but i only wonder one thing will it be the same IP to join both servers or will it give the second server another port #?

thanks for all your help Skel and by the way good luck on your case.

you will have to assign the second server a different port by adding -port 27016 (or some other number) to the startup line... actually it may be +port.. gahh i always get them confused.. im pretty sure -port though..

and thanx on the case! i haven't had much time to do much work on it though, just concept stuff.. everytime i have time to actually bust out a saw or something i look at the clock, and it tells me its way to in to the night to be that loud. lol.

it automatically changed the port and just in case you were wondering it is -port. I havent tried to see if anyone can join them yet but i know game-monitor still isnt seeing them so im not too sure. so if you have any clue on that one i would be really in your debt.

and Skel I myself am working on a case mod maybe we could run some ideas past each other.

thanks again

hmm.. well with the proper ports forwarded in the router, and opened in the firewall.. both servers should work. sometimes game-monitor can take awhile to register the server.

and yea, with the case mod, check out the forum that the link in my sig goes to.. its a hugee forum with tonss of case mods. i have gotta loads of ideas for my mod. money permitting im gonna implant a psone lcd screen for monitoring temp, usage and stuff.

...he said it workd... and all them ports do not need to be open to run a server. it is a security risk if you do. the only ports that need to be open are 27015 (or whatever port the server is runnin on) tcp and udp.

This doesn't looks like everything is solved jet?

Anyway: having a computer connected to the internet is allready a security risk. Just open up (and forward them when at home network) to have full ability of srcds. Stuff like RCON over internet, VAC and server monitors will then work fine.
