#1
Hello People, hope someone can help me, I want to get a dedicated TF2 server running
I have
CentOS 5.5
Intel Xeon, 1 core, 2.13GHz
1280 Mb ram
with 12Gb drive

I do
wget http://www.steampowered.com/download/hldsupdatetool.bin
chmod +x hldsupdatetool.bin
./hldsupdatetool.bin
./steam

and it will say

Checking bootstrapper version ...
Failed to connect to any GeneralDirectoryServer

and thats it

Any help appreciated

Cheers

You need to run the whole command line not just ./steam ... for example: ./steam -command update -game tf -dir .
Game Servers -- CentralFrag.com -- Use promocode "frag" for 15% off every month!

Cheers for the reply
I tried several times both
./steam and
./steam -command update -game tf -dir .
I just get the same message?
Checking bootstrapper version ...
Failed to connect to any GeneralDirectoryServer
any suggestions appreciated

Thanks Guys

Any fancy firewall that could be blocking the update app?

I was thinking that, these are the ports i currently have open
UDP 1200
UDP 27000 to 27015
UDP 27020
TCP 27030 to 27039
TCP 27015
theres not much else i can find regarding ports

Cheers

Well ports may be forwarded but do you have SELinux running? Or any other actual software firewall?

Hi, selinux and iptables are disabled, the only firewall is the hosts cisco wich has the ports mentioned opened

What is the policy for outbound connections? Do they block by default or allow?

it's a dedicated server with an internet IP, the firewall is stateful, so any connections established from the inside out are allowed.
I'm still not having any luck with it

cheers
