Steam under Fedora Core 4
#1
Hello,

im trying to set up a css server under FC4, ive downloaded the most recent steam files. When I toggle

# ./steam -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir /home/jwm/srcds

for the first time, all goes well and steam updates itself. Then when I re-enter the command to install cs:s itself, I receive this error:

# ./steam -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir /home/jwm/srcds

Ive already done

# yum upgrade glibc

but no succes.
Ive done the install without problems on my Fedora Core 2 machine which obviously has an older glibc.

Suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hmmmm. Well mine runs fine under FC4, so there must be another issue. Sorry I don't have the answer, but just letting you know that FC4 works. Good luck!

Make sure that your Fedora Core 4 installation is not running with SELinux enabled. It will prevent some of the tests that the steam updater runs from completing properly.

I had the same problem, and it dawned on me that SELinux was probably the cause. Once I disabled it, Steam ran just fine.
