[Urgent] Tf2 Server crash/disconnect on map change.
#1
Hi, i recently tried to host a dedicated team fortress 2 server, everything went smoothly , players are able to join, the match went on smoothly, no latency issues, but however. at the end of the map, during map change, the server would just do nothing. I can't type in any commands, it is still responsive but the fps counter stops. Everyone in the server gets stuck at Changing Level or red Lost Connection warning at the top right of the screen. This happens for any other form of map change as well (rtv, vote, admin, changelevel, map, sm_map, everything)

I've tried running the server without any mods, tried many different server.cfg's, tried deleting the whole server and redownload, tried -verify_all on the update.bat, and many more but to no avail. i've been scratching my head and searching around the whole internet for clues of what might cause this issue but there doesnt seem to be an answer.

Hope someone is kind enough to relieve me of this misery i been on this for 8 hours now without sleep.

p.s. I have weird issues trying to launch the server as well, the server would occasionally not appear, or stop at Network: IP XX.XX.XX.XX, mode MP, dedicated Yes, ports 27015 SV / 27005 CL and do nothing. i have to run the .bat file for several times until it finally gets past and execute the server.cfg files.

I just built a new server this weekend and had the same issue. It appears that the vphysics.so file in orangebox/bin/ has a new bug. If you can roll back to an earlier version it might solve your issue.

Hes talking about .bat files which are Windows and .so is for linux things. He may have to find an old .dll file, but I've not heard Windows people complain about this though.

I've got a very similar problem. I have two computers on my desk - one is a new 64-bit Windows 7 system with an i5 processor & ATI HD5700 which can run a dedicated TF2 server using srcds (through Steam) without any problems.

The other is an old 32-bit Windows XP system with a Core2 Duo processor which I'd like to run a dedicated TF2 server using srcds (through Steam).

With EXACTLY the same settings (server.cfg, mapcycle.txt, bot .nav files, launch options, etc) on the two systems, the Win7 system performs fine (although, for some reason, VAC gets disabled) and the WinXP system (which uses VAC ok) crashes srcds EVERY SINGLE TIME that I try to change the map. In-game voting, time limits, changelevel in the server console, etc.

The error I get:

The instruction at "0x0fe41934" referenced memory at "0x176446d8". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program.

There are no mods on either system. I've tried running the WinXP server with Secure (VAC) checked and un-checked. If anyone can suggest why it keeps crashing I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
