help, serious lag
#1
hi, just started a new dedicated server through SCRDS for css. i opened all the ports etc and now members from the clan i am and (MG) and any other people can join. however the game runs smoothly until around 5 or more people join when their ping rises suddenly from around 100 to 900. this makes the server unplayable. on the server i have around 20 bots and a max limit for players on the server is 32. does annyone know a way to help reduce lag, i have already set SCRDS to highest prority on the task manager.
my specs:
1.86 ghz duel core processor (intel)
3.5 gb of ram
GeForce 7300 gs (nividia)
btbuisness hub, unlimited internet average download speed 750 kbps

on the server i am currently using mani admin.
also does annyone know how to make bots respawn??
thanks a lot

Does this mean you run it on a home connection? Then probably your upload channel is at its limit. You can try reducing the tickrate and allowing more players that way, but probably not many more (in theory half the tickrate will allow twice as many players).

you are probably better off buying a server in a data center or renting a game server...

apart from that, there is no way to circumvent the limitations of your connection. you need a faster connection (upload channel is the bottle neck usually!). but home connections well suited for hosting a good game server are more expensive than renting a server...
