A question regarding required system specs for CS:S servers
#1
Hi anyone reading this!

In September I will start my honors degree year at uni and we have been told to come up with our project idea by the end of the month I wont divulge what that is because it might be profitable one day. Anyway I was interested to know the required specs for CS:S server primarily a 10 man match server at 1000fps is what I will be required to host. These would be part of my project and its important I host servers that are reliable are not going to crash and offer good performance.

If there is a chart or graph or formulas or any information on this subject you know of that will help me out I would appreciate a link to it.

The server platform I am looking at just now would be something like:

2 Quad core 2.66+ GHz CPU
8 GB DDR3 Ram
2 x 1 TB - Raid 1
1 Gbps Connection to internet

I still would like to know if there is more information on this subject I have read some old stuff from way back from before CS:S had that "awesome" 66 tick update and stuff so its probably changed since then. I want to work out how many 10 man I could host without sacrificing performance

If you absolutely want to guarantee no lag or issues with other clients taking up too much CPU then 1 game server per core with be enough. ( 7 cores for game servers total, 1 core for the OS / other services )

Then from there you can sell more depending on how popular your customer's servers are during PEAK hours. (3 - 9pm with higher peaks on weekends )
Looking for a game server? Visit fullfrag.com and pick one up as low as $2.50 / mo!

Well your server can run 7 game servers (Any size) at a time without any of them causing problems for each other.
