specs:
Code:
processor: intel core 2 duo E4500 @ 2.20 ghz
ram: 1 gb
download: 30 mbps
upload: 4-6.60 mbps(4.60 mbps most likely but still trying to figure it out...)
isp: comcast(powerboost why my upload may not be stable)

mods:
Code:
sourcemod
metamod
zombie reloaded

Okay, i need to know what ican do with those specs, i run a 40 player zombie escape server and i know i should try to test the server with maxplayers but i can't because i can't get it full but i want to know a guess in if i can hold 40 players with a nice performance for all players....

All info:
I run ZOMBI ESCAPE, with HUGE maps so idk if that will take up more cpu, or ram or even sadly internet..... I know i don't have good internet....

What i am planning to get in the summer?
I am going to get:
Code:
processor: amd processor @ 3.6 ghz(may overclock it to 4.2 ghz(still deciding what amd processor i am getting))
ram: 3 gb
internet: same but if verizon is available: getting 25 mbps up/down connection but right now its not available in my area :( i live in south jersey so if anyone wants to give me updates on it)
Tell me if those specs can hold more players?

other:
I made a map and when i ran it on my server(good zombie escape map) it had a choke of 70, and loss of 0 so if i have bad choke, does that affect anything such as gameplay? And why am i getting choke?

I need best performance for gameplay with 40 players, so i hope i can hold that much and i want atleast 20000 maxrate....
Please help!
thanks,
gamemann

64kb/s = 2 players max
128kb/s = 4 players max
256kb/s = 8 players max
512kb/s = 16 players max
1Mb/s = 32 players max
2Mb/s = 64 players max

if your upload/download speed is correct, then you should have no problem with 40 players.

That dual core there wouldn't be enough for a 40slot zombie server. But the "upgrade" would be okay.

However your internet connection(not the 25/25mbit/s) might be the bottleneck. I'd estimate that you would be able to hold 40players, but if your connection fails(or gets a drop in upload...) ... well not good then.

I'd say about 25000(sv_maxrate) maybe lower.

About the performance for players.. not the best, since you are forced to drop rates low and your connection probably isn't the most stable one on the market Smile (compared to a datacenter).

as long as i can hold 40 players with and the performance is good enough ill be okay.... If verizon comes avaible for my area i will get the 25/25 connection but right now i only have 4.60 mbps to 6.60 mbps....

Just stay with 32bit, you do only got 3gb of memory.

I assumed that 4.60mbps is most ideal Smile If you can get abit more it would only be better, well the 25/25 would be best Smile

Any clue if that is good enough settings for 4.60 mbps upload for 40 players zombie escape?

processor:  xeon x3470  6 cores 3ghz
upload/download speed: 100 mbit

A Xeon X3470 does not have 6 cores lol. And just use 50000 maxrate. when a lot of players join, 25000 will not be enough to hold it.

Slå den med jeres fiberforbindelser...
