Help! TF2 Server is stuck on LAN!
#1
Server OS: Windows Server 32-Bit
Processor: Core Processor 4000+
Ram: 2.00 GB of RAM
Game(s): TF2
Start Up Command: orangebox\srcds.exe -console -game "tf" +ip 192.168.1.2 -hostport 27015 +map ctf_2fort +maxplayers 24 +exec server.cfg
Admin Mods: MetaMod, SourceMod

Bandwidth: From using Speedtest.net, I got

Router: Linksys Wireless-G 2.4 GHz 5.4 Mbps Broadband Router
Local IP of Server: 192.168.1.2
External IP: 71.12.253.27
Port Forwarding Screen Shot: None Available

I AM RUNNING THE SERVER ON THE COMPUTER I PLAY

Well, anyways, down to the problem. No one but me can join the server, and the server does not show up anywhere except for the LAN and Favourites Tab of TF2. Everything runs fine, it's all smooth, no lag, and all my plugins for SourceMod work perfectly fine. Plugins I use: OnlyMelee, TF2 Respawn System, TF2 Backpack Viewer, and a TF2 Item Giver. sv_lan is on 0, and sv_region is on 255

I'm not a moderator but I think you need your ports forwarded to get your server off of your LAN network, and the +ip in you command line is supposed to be your External ip not your LAN

And assuming you put the folder in your C:\ drive, and named it "srcds" I think this is what your command line should look like:

Code:
C:\srcds\orangebox\srcds.exe -console -game tf -ip 71.12.253.27 -port 27015 +map ctf_2fort +maxplayers 24 +exec server.cfg

I'm not sure, I'll let the pros tell me if i'm right or wrong.

Hi,

I have a server it runs on a second PC I have.

The IP address of the PC is an internal and not an external address, but I have set Port forwarding for PORT 27015 to this machine.
Gave you set "sv_lan 0" in your server.cfg file

Well, I tried that line, (But it's tfserver, not srcds, I changed it,) but it said "Couldn't allocate any server IP port." I have all the ports fowarded, trust me.

Fixed that problem by adding in (On the Steam Client) TF2 / Properties / Set Launch Options - +hostport 27016 +tv_port 27021

It still doesn't show up on the master list and acts as if it is a LAN server.

Okay, I fixed it. People can connect to it, but it still doesn't seem to show up in the Internet tab. For those of you who would like to know how, I removed the -ip line, it's not needed, and it worked. Then I gave out my external IP for people to connect to, and they were able to.

That's how it is for me, and it appears on the LAN tab, so I think thats normal.

You will see it under LAN since it's on YOUR LAN. Others will see in on the server list. Smile

Please do not PM me for server related help
fqdn Wrote:if you've seen the any of the matrix movies, a game server is not all that different. it runs a version of the game that handles the entire world for each client connected. that's the 2 sentence explanation.
