Hey guys,
I am starting a scoutzknivez server on my box (in a datacentre) and am trying to get rid of those terrible pink and boxes where ‘simianbanner’ etc should be.
I was able to get it working locally on my PC but as soon as I upload the files to the server it doesn’t work, I deleted the files from C: so it downloads fresh etc.
The server is at steam://connect/60.234.67.218:27019 if you would like to look.
I have used the VTFEdit program and created a simple custom banner and the following files.
Brainstewbanner.vtf
Brainstewbanner.vmt
Brainstew1.vtf
Brainstew1.vmt
The contents of the vtf files are below:
"LightmappedGeneric"
{
"$decal" 1
"$baseTexture" "brainstewbanner"
"$decalscale" 0.25
"$translucent" 1
}
"LightmappedGeneric"
{
"$decal" 1
"$baseTexture" "brainstew1"
"$decalscale" 0.25
"$translucent" 1
}
And created the following scoutzknivez.res
"resources"
{
"maps/scoutzknivez.bsp" "file"
"maps/scoutzknivez.res" "file"
"materials/decals/custom/brainstewbanner.vmt" "file"
"materials/decals/custom/brainstewbanner.vtf" "file"
"materials/decals/custom/brainstew1.vmt" "file"
"materials/decals/custom/brainstew1.vtf" "file"
}
The directory structure on my server is as follows for these materials etc.
cstrike/maps/scoutzknivez.bsp
cstrike/maps/scoutzknivez.res
cstrike/materials/decals/custom/brainstewbanner.vtf
cstrike/materials/decals/custom/brainstewbanner.vmt
cstrike/materials/decals/custom/brainstew1.vtf
cstrike/materials/decals/custom/brainstew1.vmt
When I connect to the server they all download and are placed in the correct folders on my C: but still get the pink and black! Argh has anyone been able to do this? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Ryan
