Swiftpanel CSS Server Creation
#1
Hi all,

I use Swiftpanel on my linux box and it seems when creating a new server it copys the CSS Files each time I make a game server which is using up all my diskspace.
Is there an update or something that supports just the use of one lot of CSS files but multiple servers coming off it? Maybe another game control panel? As i'm still fiddling with this I would rather a free solution for the time being.

Thanks.

You could maybe use symlinks, but otherwise you will need to have it that way.. Swiftpanel support is a nogo, since its dead..

AFAIK there are only a few Panels that are for free. We have a thread somewhere at this board where most of them are listed.
No matter if they are free or panels you have to pay for. All of them are making a full install for each server.

My panel is using symlinks to save hdd space. But it is not ready yet.

Hey, Thanks for your replys,

Had a bit of a google around and found this topic over on the steam forums
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=458108
As one of the posters said it is "Complicated" to explain/implement.

I had a quick fiddle with my SwiftPanel installation on modfiying the game template so it should run the server from example:
/home/css/orangebox/srcds_run
But then how do you tell it in the parameters to look for all of the other stuff in a seperate folder (Eg. /home/server/orangebox)
I know you have to keep the folder structure exactly right otherwise it wont work but I gave it a try and every time I start the server it wont load a process, It had the permissions to execute but heh. Only thing I can think of now is maybe that Swiftpanel has a security precaution where a user cannot modify the parameters to run srcds_run from another folder apart from the one they were assigned (in the server install wizard).

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I can not say how Swiftpanel works. But I am using softlinks instead of hardlinks.
I have one masterfolder with the serversoftware. It is owned by the masteruser which is in the mastergroup. The Gameserver users are in the mastergroup to and have read and/or execute permissions to that folder depending on the files.
Now I copy all files needed by the user like .cfg, maplist, mapcycle, (...) files.
After that I run cp -sR /home/masteruser/masterserver/* /home/user/server1
