SRCDS Connection & Computer Specs Requirement?
#1
Hey everyone whats up! I got a question would my laptop be able to run a 50 slot or more css server or any other source game? Here are the specs. I got it from 2007 or 2008. But since I got better pcs now. I though it would be a great idea to make a cheap srcds from my old laptop

Basic Info:
CPU:AMD Turion X2 Ultra (2.1ghz) Dual-Core 65nm /w Power Setting On High Performance
RAM: 6GB 800mhz (4GB RAM + 2GB Windows Ready Boost Flashdrive)
Harddrive: 250gb 5400rpm HDD
Game: Any Valve Source Game (CSS,TF2,GMOD,DOD) 1 Server 50 slots Or More

Internet Speed:
Comcast Extreme 50 /w Powerboost

50mbp Downstream (6.25 Megabytes per Sec)
10mbp Upstream (1.25 Megabytes per sec)

250gb Download & Upload Limit Bandwidth Per Month

Lastly if I got rackmount server and ran it off my internet would it hang or would it be stable and still fast Big Grin
Thanks, Smile

The HDD will make it slow on mapchange.
I have hosted some servers from a laptop. Cant remember how many slots I maxed on peak time, but I have moved onto bigger machinery to put it like that.
The laptop is now only used for a 512 TS3.

The thing with the laptop was if I used the RDP protocol, or communicated in any way, it started lagging bacause the tiny CPU (simular to yours) was very allergic to cpu hogs.

Try to make a count of 22 slots in total, and max them. If it is working perfectly, expand.

If I replace the harddrive with a 7200rpm HDD would it be normal speed or still slow? Plus I also got a OCZ Agility SSD

You will easily go over your bandwidth cap.
I would recommend switching to Comcast Business... No bandwidth cap... I'm doing the switch myself in a few days...

Did what work?
I switched just fine, but I don't run servers out of my house.
