Server FPS and Sourcemod plugins
#1
Hi everyone.

I have some questions about SRCDS that I hope someone can answer.

Firstly, is it possible for a Sourcemod plugin to affect server FPS? My server host seems to think so, although I'm not so sure!

Next, my host puts both "fps_max 300" and "fps_max 600" in the command line (I can't change this). I pay extra for a 500FPS server, and my host insists there's nothing wrong with the command line. Is it right to put both fps_max commands in there?

Finally, is it possible for any other command apart from fps_max to affect server FPS in server.cfg?

If this thread is in the wrong forum, please accept my apologies and put it in the right one. Thanks!

1. It may affect the FPS if it is a bad written plugin, which causes errors(tons!) and overloads the server Toungue

2. You can put both insite the start command, but, however the last one is the one which is going to be used.

3. No. There are not any other cvars which will effect the server FPS. You can always check the current FPS of the server by using "stats" with RCon. Also, you might be able to set your own "fps_max" insite server.cfg. It will overwrite the host' default.

There are ways to lock the fps to a maximum. Preload Libs. Alias commands at the startline. And setting the kernel that way servers can not break a certain amount of fps.
Interactive web based config creator for CS, CSS, TF2 and DODS
Creates server and client configs in an explained dialog.

You`ll also find precompiled debian gameserver kernels for download

That's correct. But with the provided info by the OP - it indicates that his host does not use an alias.
