VPS hosting?
#1
Hi,

I intend on getting a VPS to host probably 1 or 2 CS:Source dedicated servers (CSPROMOD) of 10 player slot each and i was wondering if it is feasible? If so, how much RAM would i require? (I have options of guaranteed 256mb or 512mb)

Many thanks!

Generally a VPS isn't ideal for game server or application which requires alot more than, well for example a web server.

256mb is too low for two servers. 512 should be possible. But the real matter is the CPU and how overloaded the box is Smile

Would 256mb be sufficient for 1 server?

If it's a plain war server and no other applications such as web services, it should be possible.

Its not possible, I tried it a few weeks back, just running the one server, and it was on a decent spec machine.

If you really want 1/2 servers running, your best bet is to try and find someone with a dedi with some spare space you could rent.

PM me if your stuck, but please dont waste your money on it, it will run find, and then have random lag spikes. Speaking from previous experience here Smile

I ran 3 servers on a VPS, not the best as it's obviously shared resources, but it were atleast popular and had really few complains about lag. But a dedicated server would always be one of the absolute best choices.

There is always the option of renting out game servers from GSP's....

Wouldn't recommend hosting any game server off a VPS, quality of recourses for a game server always surpass a VPS' limits.
