Hosting server on VMBox
#1
Ok, so recently we've been trying to set up a garrys mod server on my friends Linux server. It worked well and all, people could connect etc. but the gamemode we're using isn't compatible with Linux > It must be ran in Windows, without us having to do some serious modding and coding and making new .dll files.

SOO, we figured out we'd try to host the server on a virtual machine with XP. We sat up the server and everything went fine until we tried to connect to the server. Noone could join it, not even people on the LAN.
We then double checked if the ports were forwarded, which they were, according to the router. According to portchecker from portforward.com every single port was blocked.

Now we're pretty much clueless in regards what to do. Anyone that is familiar with Linux and VMbox that could help us out? Thanks.

Installed by default on windows, so the right term would be disabled, if you have done so?

The firewall service isn't installed, so yes the firewall is disabled.

Check the NAT on the virtural machine manager interface.
I'm most used to VMWare, so sorry if you don't have this thingy..

We've turned off NAT on the VM. That's why it is so weird that the ports aren't open.
