How to make bots count as players!
#1
Hey guys!

I am running my own server over at novo.dyndns.tv:27015 - And i have 5 bots in there just to keep it from ever being reported as empty.

However thats exactly what it is - there is a bots "tag" on the server browser - and the players is reporting 0 / 27. I however want it to report as 5/27 - because there are 5 players in there - they are just bots - anyway of doing this?

And is there an explanation of how to change my tag - or how to modify it according to my mods - what impact does the tag actually have!

Cheers,

Andy

afaik this cannot be changed, and it shouldn't. people will want to know if they are playing with/against bots or human players.

SO how the heck do you get Human players on your server as opposed to somebody elses?

I have another problem - when i do rcon_passowrd xxxxxx then any rcon command it says it cannot connect to the rcon or server not responding... Any ideas why?

I need to play Orangebox more often.

@renegadeandy Make sure the 27015 TCP port is opened.

turned out the problem was because I didnt have -port and +ip +rcon_password xxxxxxxx on my starting src_ds command line params, works now.

play yourself on the server. and you need a lot of friends to play on that server too, even when it's empty. creating a full server is not an easy task. this does not work simply by putting bots in the server.

Not true, it could be changed programatically (you can put in server query response anything you want). But it does not make any sense.

BehaartesEtwas has right, you should play with friends. Bots could help but not so much.

sv_visiblemaxplayers 0 can solve this i think.. I had a server running with 18 slots, and filled with 4 bots... sv_visiblemaxplayers were on -1, and that caused the server to only show 14 slots, because i had 4 bots on the server. Try to put sv_visiblemaxplayers to 0, and see if that helps.
