Can't start srcds
#1
Hello all, I am an old cs 1.6 server person and after many years of playing other games wanted to come back and run a CSS server. OMG this is kicking my butt. Been trying fo 3 days to breath life into it. Here is what I have

new install of windows pro sp3
celeron processor 500megs of ram ( old box in office)
followed the tutorial on srcds.com and used every command line I could find and all I get it the hour glass for 2 seconds and nothing. What am I missing? I am on a T-1 line supplied to my comapny by Cbeyond and I have 10 static ip addresses. I called Cbeyond and they say all my ports are open on the ip's I have contol of. I ran this line last in a dos box and from a short cut.
C:\srcds\srcds.exe -console -game cstrike +map de_dust -maxplayers 16 -autoupdate
and many others, I am sure I have missed something , ant help would be appricated.

Sounds like your processor doesn't support SSE2 which from other reports in the forums is required for OrangeBox based games.
Looking for a game server? Visit fullfrag.com and pick one up as low as $2.50 / mo!

It is hardware but after installing Linux and Winxp in 3 machines I have solved the issue. It seems to be required to have SSE for a windows box and SEE2 for Linux. Dang that was a long process. I will have ot use a WinBox I don't have a processor with SEE2 support I can use for a Linus box right now. Thank you for the reply and I hope this helps others.

Eh, Get on craigslist and look for the Hyper Threaded P4's or Dual Core P4's as some idiots call them. They should work just fine for you as long as they are over 3.0GHz in speed.
